Instead of sweetening your tea, coffee or oatmeal with processed, white table sugar, try honey! Not only is honey a common pantry staple, but it also provides us with a variety of vitamins and minerals. Honey also has healing properties. Honey, as well as other bee products, has been used for centuries to help fight allergies, boost the immune system, increase energy levels and heal wounds.
In October we will be celebrating Non-GMO Month. Here is a little bit of information about GMO's from the Non-GMO project's website, www.nongmoproject.org. More information about Non-GMO Month to come!

|Cooking with fats|
When cooking with fats, use only those fats that remain stable at temperatures above the boiling point, such as butter, olive oil, and unrefined palm and coconut oil. Don’t heat polyunsaturated vegetable oils, such as safflower, sunflower, and flaxseed oils. Heating these oils causes them to break down, allowing trans fatty acids to develop.
